Tyla secures four nominations at 2026 American Music Awards

South African artist Tyla has received four nominations at the 2026 American Music Awards (AMAs).

She is nominated for Best Afrobeats Artist, Best Female R&B Artist, Best Music Video and Social Song of the Year for Chanel, becoming one of the most nominated African artists in American Music Awards history.

In the Best Afrobeats Artist category, Tyla is nominated alongside Burna Boy, Moliy, Rema and Wizkid.

For Social Song of the Year, she is up against Disco Lines and Tinashe (No Broke Boys), PinkPantheress (Illegal), Role Model (Sally, When the Wine Runs Out), and Zara Larsson (Lush Life).

American Music Awards

The 52nd American Music Awards nominations are based on fan activity, including streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay and tour revenue.

Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominations with eight. Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter and Sombr each follow with seven.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by Queen Latifah. It will take place live on Monday, 25 May 2026, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The show will air at 8pm ET / 2am(SAST) on CBS and Paramount+.

Fan voting is currently open and closes on Friday, 8 May, at 11:59:59am PT/ 8:59:59pm (SAST).

Voting for Social Song of the Year and Tour of the Year will remain open during the first 30 minutes of the live broadcast.
