The Johannesburg Metropolitan Department (JMPD) has warned motorists of temporary road disruptions in the Orange Farm area and surroundings.

This is to accommodate the Safe Cycling Ride, which is hosted by the City of Johannesburg’s Transport Department.

The event aims to promote non-motorised transportation and safe cycling habits within communities.

Approximately 200 cyclists are expected to participate in the event, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 22 March 2026.

Affected Routes & Key Locations

The ride will commence and end at Reamohetsoe Primary School (Drieziek Ext 1) and will cover a circuit approximately 28.5 km long.

Areas and landmarks along the route include:

      • Golden Highway: Major sections will be affected, particularly near Milife Street and Nhlapo Street.

      • Key intersections: Milife Street, Link Road, Moyana Drive, and Palm Drive.

      • Pass-by locations: Orange Farm Eyethu Mall, Palm Springs Mall, Letsheng Mall, as well as various local clinics and schools.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says officers will be deployed to safeguard both participants and motorists.
