- TMPD Deputy Commissioner Umashi Dhlamini has been suspended after being implicated at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
- His suspension follows that of MMC Kholofelo Morodi, who faces separate allegations involving leaked tender documents.
- Authorities say the move is to ensure a fair and uninterrupted investigation into the claims.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has suspended its Deputy Commissioner, Umashi Dhlamini, following allegations levelled against him at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
His suspension comes just a day after Kholofelo Morodi’s suspension, who serves as the MMC for Corporate and Shared Services in the capital city.
Morodi is accused of sharing internal tender documents with a corrupt Gauteng cop, Fanie Nkosi.
According to the TMPD, Umashi Dhlamini requested suspension with immediate effect following bombshell allegations at the inquiry that is investigating allegations of interference in the criminal justice system.
Dhlamini was responsible for Support and Administration in the department.
“His suspension took effect on Friday, 20 March 2026. Deputy Commissioner Dhlamini’s name was mentioned in proceedings before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, where allegations relating to tender irregularities were raised,” says TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba.
Mahamba says the suspension is intended to allow for a fair, thorough and uninterrupted investigation into the allegations.
