Standard Bank is facing backlash on social media after a woman accused the bank of allegedly defrauding her mother of her pension money.
The woman took to X on Monday, claiming that her mother’s pension funds were transferred out of her account without her consent.
According to the post, the pension money was deposited into her mother’s account, but by the following day the entire amount had allegedly been transferred to multiple accounts.
She further claimed that bank statements show the transactions were made at a branch in Acornhoek, while her mother was in Nelspruit at the time and did not travel to the branch.
“We have been going back and forth with @StandardBankZA about mama’s matter. My mother’s pension was paid into her account, and by the second day the entire amount was transferred out to multiple accounts,” she wrote.
The woman also questioned the bank’s refusal to provide details of the destination accounts, saying such information should be available when funds are transferred.
