THE House Committee on Justice will continue its proceedings on the determination of sufficiency in form and substance of the four impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte once the plenary refers it to the panel.

This is according to committee chair Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro as she assured public that the mandate of the committee will not be bothered by the announcement of Duterte of her plans of running for president in 2028 elections.

Luistro said the rules followed during the deliberations of the impeachment complaints against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will be adopted in the case of Duterte.

“Well, I wish to believe that what we saw during the impeachment proceedings against the President, it will be the same thing, because as I have expressed before, we will be adopting the same rules, the same parameters, the same deliberations,” Luistro said.

For Luistro, she doesn’t see any reason why the impeachment case procedures will be more difficult for Duterte’s case.

“I am inclined to believe that the process we will do during the impeachment against the President, we will go through the same process when it comes to the impeachment process against the Vice president,” she added.

According to Luistro, the committee will tackle each ground mention in the complaints and will determine the sufficiency in form and substance in every complaint.

Luistro pointed out that the lawmakers have to address the impeachment complaints as part of their constitutional mandate.

Therefore, Luistro added, the consequence of the pronouncement of Duterte will not affect the work of the justice committee.
