MAKABAGBAG-DAMDAMIN ang mensaheng inihatid ni Erik Santos para sa Asia’s Songbird na si Regine Velasquez na kamakailan lang ay umamin na nagkaka-anxiety na tuwing sasalang sa stage.
Sa isang mahaba at emosyonal na post sa socmed, sinabi ni Erik na hindi high notes o perfect vocal day ang nagde-define sa legasiya ng kanyang “Ate Regine.”
“We see you. We know that lately, some performances have felt like a battle with anxiety and that the stage, which once brought you pure joy, now sometimes brings frustration instead,” panimula ni Erik.
Patuloy niya, “Please know that your legacy as THE Asia’s Songbird is not defined by a single high note or a perfect vocal day. It is defined by more than 4 decades of being the heartbeat of OPM.
And even as you navigate the natural changes in your voice dahil sa hormonal change and menopause issues, you remain undeniably one of the best, if not the best, in OPM.”
Lagi nga raw sinasabi ni Regine na iba na ang timbre ng kanyang boses ngayon kumpara noon, pero para kay Erik, naroroon pa rin ang magic nito nang makipag-duet sa sikat na international singer na si Josh Groban.
“Kung may pagbabago man, that change carries the weight of a lifetime of stories. And we thank you for still choosing to show up and share a piece of yourself with all of us even when it’s hard.
“Your honesty about your struggles makes you more than just an icon, it makes you human. Seeing a legend be vulnerable about anxiety on stage inspires us more than any perfect record ever could.
“Ate, as someone who knows you on a personal level, what I cherish most are not only the times I get to perform with you, but moreso, the quiet moments we’ve shared, about life and family, mga tawanang halos walang katapusan — and those real laughs always fill the room when the cameras aren’t rolling, raw and unfiltered. Bilang pagtatapos, ginarantiya ng singer kay Regine na, “You’ve given us enough high notes to last a lifetime. Solved na solved na kami dun. Take the rest you need, breathe and please remember that you don’t have to be ‘The Songbird’ every time you step on stage. To us, you are Regine — our Ate and that is more than enough.
