BELLA Belen, the newly-minted Miss Volleyball by the Philippine Sportswriters Association, dropped 29 points as Capital1 outlasted Choco Mucho, 25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 19-25, 15-10, to arrest a two-match skid in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the jampacked Playtime Filoil Centre.

Belen reset her new PVL career-high with 25 attacks, two service aces and two blocks that went along with 15 digs and seven receptions as the Solar Spikers rose to a 2-2 record.

The Flying Titans threw everything on Belen, but the three-time UAAP champion took over in the deciding set by scoring five points on four kills and a block.

“Maganda ang ipinakita ng team. Hindi madaling kalaban ang Choco Mucho. Palaban din sila as a team,” Belen said. “Kami naman, gawin lang ang role namin as a player and kung ano ang game plan namin, kailangan mag-stick lang doon.”

“Dikitan ang laro kaya kailangang magtiyaga at mag-relax kasi there were times na natataranta kami, nawawala kami sa momentum namin. Yung fifth set, nilaban lang namin, kasi nandoon na kami, may chance kaming maipanalo ang game,” she added.

Up next for Capital1 is Creamline on Saturday at the San Juan arena, where Belen will face the 10-time PVL champions for the first time.

Sisi Rondina had 22 points, including three service aces, and 10 receptions while Kat Tolentino added 19 points, including two blocks for Choco Mucho, which lost three in a row after winning the conference opener.
