THREE most wanted kidnap-for-ransom suspects were captured by agents of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group in a manhunt operation in Cabuyao City, Laguna, PNP-AKG director Brig. Gen. Glicerio C. Cansilao announced yesterday.
In a report to PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the official said the suspects, with ages 23, 30 and 33, are wanted for their involvement in the kidnapping-for-ransom and killing of a Chinese national on November 4, 2024.
Members of the AKG Luzon Field Unit spearheaded the operation to arrest the trio on the strength of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for kidnapping-for-ransom with homicide issued by Judge Kathleen Aseron-Casimiro of the Antipolo City Regional Trial Court Branch 100 in Rizal.
Cansilao said two of the suspects are included in the PNP-AKG’s most wanted list, ranking 6th and 10th respectively.
The suspects were accused of abducting a Chinese national before killing him while demanding ransom money from his family.
The trio are now locked up at the PNP-AKG custodial facility in Camp Crame pending the issuance of official jail commitment order on them by the court.
Nartatez commended the AKG operating units for their swift coordination and firm resolve in ensuring justice for victims of kidnapping-related crimes.
“This is a major breakthrough for the Anti-Kidnapping Group and a clear reminder that the PNP will relentlessly pursue those involved in kidnapping and other violent crimes. Sa mga sangkot sa kidnapping-for-ransom na patuloy na nagtatago, hahabulin namin kayo, at pananagutin sa batas—walang ligtas sa batas,” the top cop said.
He also assured the public that cases of kidnapping-for-ransom have been effectively addressed, reflecting the PNP’s continued commitment to community safety.
Records showed that from January 1 to February 5 this year, PNP-AKG agents have already captured seven most wanted kidnap-for-ransom suspects.-
