Man wanted for 26 counts of rape hauled to jail

A MAN wanted for 26 counts of rape in Bicol region was arrested by a police tracker team in Naic, Cavite following months of manhunt operations, a report to Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said yesterday.

The 48-year-old suspect was tracked down in his hiding place in Bgy. Sabang in Naic municipality by a team of policemen from the Juban Municipal Police Station and the Sorsogon Provincial Highway Patrol Team.

The accused was placed under arrest on the strength of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for 26 counts of qualified rape issued by the Sorsogon City Regional Trial Court Branch 51 last January 19.

He is now being held at the Juban police detention facility.

“No one is beyond the reach of the law. Hindi kami titigil hangga’t hindi napapanagot ang mga lumalabag sa batas,” said Nartatez as he emphasized the PNP’s determination to ensure public safety and justice.
