GAPAN CITY – Police on Friday arrested a carpenter after a search in his house yielded a loose firearm and shabu worth P13,600, Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Heryl L. Bruno said.
In a report to Bruno, city police head Lt. Col. Joel M. Dela Cruz identified the arrested suspect as alias “Lino,” 48, a resident of Tabing Sapa, Bgy. San Roque, this city.
The arrested suspect was tagged by authorities as a “high-value individual.”
Seized were a 9mm cal. pistol and seven plastic sachets containing shabu weighing two grams worth P13,600.
Police raided the suspect’s compound on the strength of a search warrant issued by the Gapan City Regional Trial Court Branch 87 for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The arrested suspect is now in the custody of the Gapan police for proper disposition.
“Our campaign against loose firearms will continue to prevent their use in illegal activities. We will also intensify our operations to combat the spread of illegal drugs in the province,” Bruno said.
