President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) at 19:00 tonight, 12 February 2026, at Cape Town City Hall.
The address will outline the government’s programme and priorities for the year ahead.

How the ceremony unfolds
The State of the Nation Address is divided into three main parts.
The first is the public participation element of the ceremony. The Civil Guard of Honour welcomes the President and guests as they walk along the red carpet.
This is followed by the formal state ceremonial, which includes:
- A 21-gun salute
- A South African Air Force flypast
- Members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) lining the President’s route
- A Military Guard of Honour
- The military band playing South Africa’s national anthem
The final part of the event is the official address by the President.
